Cascade Canoe & Kayak Racing Team – now in Bothell!
Canoe and kayak Sprint racing is held on calm waters such as lakes and canals, in courses with nine straight lanes defined by buoys, in single, double and four-person boats. Over distances of 200, 500 and 1000 meters, this exciting head-to-head competition features high speed and closely contested events.
Do you like being on the water, being part of a team competing in individual and multi-person events. The 5th
largest Olympic sport, Canoe/Kayak racing combines skill, teamwork, endurance and strength in single, double and four-person boats. With this life-long sport, we strive to help you develop your physical capacities, as well as learn important life skills such as love of sport and exercise, goal setting, discipline, and passion for life. Lifelong friendships are formed, experiences are shared, and character is built.
At Cascade we incorporate the latest scientific training methods in developing great paddlers and great people. Everyone in our program paddles every session in an atmosphere of challenge and self-discovery. And, we have lots of fun! The skills learned in this program are a prerequisite for our sprint-racing team.
Our introductory program, Youth Learn to Race Canoes & Kayaks, for which no paddling experience is required, presents beginners with the basics skills of the sport in a progressive manner. Once beginner-level skills are mastered, beginners join our racing team and train for racing. For beginners, while workouts are held 4 times each week, participants are required to train a minimum of 2. First year paddlers join us in competing with other regional clubs about once each month, from April through October.
